Fire at Ocean Lakes Campground in Surfside leaves one person injured, displaces three

A fire damaged multiple homes at Ocean Lakes Campground in Surfside Beach, officials said Sunday.

There were 11 units affected, including two that were destroyed by the fire, according to Horry County Fire Rescue’s social media post. Firefighters responded to the scene after 6 a.m.

Officials said one person was injured and treated on scene.

The American Red Cross of South Carolina is assisting three people displaced by the fire.

The agency is investigating. Horry County received help from departments in Surfside, Murrells Inlet and Myrtle Beach. There were 70 first responders on scene, the post stated.
