An exposure to COVID-19 among the Myrtle Beach Solid Waste Division will restrict residential pickup services the rest of the week.

The city announced Monday that it must temporarily suspend collection of recyclables, while yard waste and bulky junk pickup will also be very limited this week. Residential garbage pickup will continue as usual.

The restriction is due to a staffing shortage caused by the coronavirus, but they are hoping to restore full service soon, pending test results.

City spokesman Mark Kruea didn’t know the exact number of employees exposed, but noted it’s more than four and reiterated that they are awaiting test results.
