The Horry County Coroner’s Office has released the name of a woman who died in a car wreck Friday.

Cynthia Allaire of Myrtle Beach died from injuries she suffered in a crash on Highway 17 Bypass near Azalea Lakes Boulevard, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.

Allaire, 78, was a passenger in a Ford Taurus that was hit by a Hyundai sedan. According to S.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Brian Lee, the driver of the Taurus was going east on Azalea Lakes and failed to yield to the Hyundai, which was going south on Highway 17.

Allaire was taken to South Strand Medical Center, where she later died.

The driver and a passenger of the Hyundai and the driver of the Taurus were all injured in the two-vehicle crash, Lee said. They were taken to the hospital. Lee did not identify them or provide information on their condition.

The agency is investigating.
