Coroner identifies man who was hit by a car while in his wheelchair in Loris

The Horry County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who died after being hit by a car in Loris this weekend.

Kenneth Hatsell, 53, died about 6:40 p.m. at the McLeod Loris emergency room after being hit by a car, Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said.

Hatsell suffered from head injuries after being hit by a car while he was in a motorized wheelchair scooter near Highway 701 in Loris, Fowler said.

The Loris Police Department is investigating the incident, Fowler said.
