The Georgetown County Coroner has identified a body found in the waterway in Murrells Inlet and confirmed it is that of a kayaker who went missing Saturday night.

Vladimir Norman, 29, disappeared Saturday night after setting out in a kayak, Georgetown County Coroner Chase Ridgeway said. Norman was from Murrells Inlet, Ridgeway said.

Norman’s body was found in the inshore waters of Murrells Inlet near Pompano Drive, according to Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jason Lesley.

Authorities scheduled an autopsy for Thursday at the Medical University of South Carolina to determine Norman’s cause and manner of death.
