Murrells Inlet man dies in motorcycle crash Saturday, officials say
One person died in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Saturday night, highway officials said.
The driver was traveling south on U.S. 17 near Hilton Road at about 6:30 p.m. when he drove into the median and hit the curb, according to South Carolina High Patrol Trooper David Jones.
The driver was a 38-year-old man from Murrells Inlet, said Patty Bellamy, Horry County Deputy Coroner. He will be identified publicly after his family is notified.
Jones said the driver was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from the Harley Davidson. He died on the scene.
The agency is investigating.
