Horry County first responders rescue a person from a car in this Myrtle Beach pond

Horry County Fire Rescue personnel removed a person from a car that went into a pond Tuesday afternoon, according to a department tweet.

HCFR tweeted that one person was rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, which happened in the area of 5050 Highway 17 Bypass in Myrtle Beach around 3:30 p.m.

Authorities say utilities were damaged in the crash.

HCFR asks that people avoid the area and added that the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
