Downtown Myrtle Beach’s public parking garage is planned to be painted in bright blues, greens and oranges as part of a planned beautification effort for the area ahead of the 2021 summer season.

Public parking in Myrtle Beach will be free of charge beginning November 1 as summer tourism has waned in the area.

Through the summer months, parking in the heart of the city generally costs $1.50 to $2 per hour depending on the location. The price is determined by a tiered system, and some locations offer all-day parking for a flat rate

From November through the end of February, the parking meters are taken out of operation and parking is free. Some privately owned lots may still charge for parking during the off-season.

People who don’t pay their parking meter when required face a $30 fine that could be increased to $60 if the fee isn’t paid within 30 days.

Vehicles displaying a valid handicapped, Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans or Medal of Honor license tag, or a valid and official handicapped hang tag can park for free regardless of the time of year.
