Conway bridge surface work will temporarily close SC Highway 22 ramp over US 501

Surfacing work on a Conway Bypass bridge deck will temporarily close an eastbound ramp beginning next week in Horry County, the South Carolina Department of Transportation recently announced.

The S.C. Highway 22 East ramp over U.S. 501 will be closed beginning October 25 while the project is being completed, which is expected to be until November 8, a press release states.

Motorists traveling south on U.S. 501 will need to use a detour to access S.C. 22. The detour will be posted using S.C. 319 from U.S. 501 in downtown Aynor to S.C. 22. Other ramps will remain open, meaning motorists traveling north on U.S. 501 will still be able to access S.C. 22 east and those traveling west on S.C. 22 can still access U.S. 501.

Crews will be removing deteriorating concrete using high-pressure water before bonding with a new, improved surface on the bridge deck, according to SCDOT.
