A man died in a two-vehicle collision in Loris Saturday evening, S.C. Highway Patrol officials said.
Joseph “Joey” Faircloth, 56, of Loris was pronounced dead on the scene from traumatic injuries sustained in the crash, Horry County deputy coroner Michelle McSpadden said.
According to S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones, Faircloth was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck heading south on U.S. Highway 701 when he attempted to overtake a car in his lane and crashed head on into a Cadillac sport utility vehicle that was heading north.
Faircloth died at the scene. The man who was driving the Cadillac and a female passenger were taken to Grand Strand Medical Center to be treated for injuries that were not life threatening.
S.C. Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
