Myrtle Beach man says cop crashed into him. Among other things, he wants new bike.

An Horry County man is suing Myrtle Beach after he says a cop cruiser crashed into him while he was riding his bike.

John Henis was riding his bike about 8 a.m. June 23, 2019, down Ocean Boulevard when a police cruiser turned a corner and caused him to crash into the passenger side of the car, the suit states.

The accident occurred near 19th Ave. S. The suit states that the officer, Kurt Sculac, failed to yield to Henis and caused the crash.

According to court documents, Henis injured his left shoulder, arm and hip. The suit states that Sculac’s driving was “reckless and careless” and that he failed to exercise any “degree of care” while driving.

He is seeking payment of his medical bills and a new bike.
