Firefighters battling blaze at apartment complex in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach Fire Department crews are responding to a structure fire at 1212 Pinegrove Drive, according to a department tweet Saturday afternoon.

The tweet had few details on the blaze at an apartment complex, but asked citizens to avoid the area for the safety of themselves and the firefighters working to put it out.

Crews could be heard on scanner radio traffic responding to the fire around 2:30 p.m. Personnel noted there was heavy smoke as they worked three sides of the apartment complex.

Around 3 p.m., MBFD tweeted that the fire was under control and will be investigated further.
