Car slams into the back of a North Myrtle Beach police cruiser stopped on an S.C. highway

A North Myrtle Beach police officer was not hurt after a truck slammed into the back of his parked cruiser on S.C. 31.

Officer Steve Perlstein was investigating a single-vehicle crash on S.C. 31 around 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to North Myrtle Beach spokesman Pat Dowling. The officer’s cruiser was stopped in a lane with emergency lights activated and traffic cones placed behind the vehicle.

A white, Chevrolet Colorado was traveling north and did not move over as required by law, Dowling said. The driver did not see the patrol car and collided with the back of the cruiser. The cruiser was then pushed into another stopped vehicle.

The Colorado also hit a black Chevrolet car.

Perlstein was not in his vehicle and was not injured, Dowling said. There were no other serious injuries in the wreck.
