Newest Planet Fitness in Horry County is open and offering special discounts if you join
Horry County’s newest Planet Fitness has finally opened its doors.
The new workout facility located at 1049 Glenforest road in the Carolina Forest area opened at 7 a.m. Friday. The fitness center is located in the building that formerly housed Gander Mountain just off U.S. 501.
After announcing plans to open there in late 2019, the gym announced in January that it planned to open near the middle of 2020 while releasing a rendering of the 23,364-square-foot building. Planet Fitness began preregistration in February.
The Carolina Forest Planet Fitness is offering grand opening specials through Aug. 12. Classic Cards — which offer unlimited access to the Carolina Forest location and free fitness training — is on special for $10 per month. Black Cards — which offer additional perks such as access to any location worldwide, the ability to bring a guest anytime, use of massage chairs, tanning beds and WIFI, discounts on drinks and places such as Reebok, and more.
Both plans require a $1 start-up fee and $39 annual cost.
The exercise facility is open 24 hours Monday through Friday and from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Planet Fitness is a nationwide gym that has three other locations here — in Conway, Myrtle Beach and Murrells Inlet. The business advertises itself as a Judgement Free Zone, a “workout environment where everyone feels accepted and respected,” according to its website.
