Motorcyclist dies in overnight crash in Horry County, troopers say

A motorcyclist died after an overnight crash in the Longs area, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

An international box truck was attempted to cross the road when a motorcycle hit the side of the truck, said SCHP Master Trooper David Jones. The crash happened about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday on West Bear Grass Road. Jones said the motorcyclist died at the scene of the collision.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, Jones. The driver of the truck was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, he said.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office named Brian Cordera, 23, as the person who died in the crash.

The fatal wreck is under investigation.
