A restroom stop and a lucky lottery ticket: Couple wins big at Horry County gas station

Thanks to his wife requesting a restroom break, a man scored half-a-million dollars from a lottery scratch-off ticket at the Aynor Food Mart, according to a release from the S.C. Education Lottery.

The husband went into the store to purchase a ticket after seeing someone in the parking lot scratching off a ticket at a gas pump, the release states. The wife initially said no, but her husband insisted. And when he returned, he came back with $500,000 jackpot tickets.

He began jumping up and down, screaming, “$500,000! $500,000!” The couple plans to take more road trips with their winnings.

The odds of winning are 1 in 660,000, according to the S.C. Education Lottery.

Aynor Food Mart received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed winning ticket.
