Motorcyclist killed in collision with car in Pawleys Island

A motorcyclist died in a crash with a car in Pawleys Island on Saturday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The driver of a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling north on U.S. Highway 17 at approximately 10:20 a.m. when it collided with a 2020 BMW that was making a left turn onto the highway from Pawleys Plantation, SCHP Cpl. Sonny Collins said.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was killed as a result of the wreck. The person’s identity has yet to be released by the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the BMW was uninjured, Collins said.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
