Conway Mayor Blain-Bellamy says she’s tested positive for coronavirus

Conway Mayor Barbara Blain-Bellamy tested positive for coronavirus, according to a statement from the city.

The mayor released a statement Tuesday night that said she began to experience symptoms of the virus Wednesday of last week and got tested on Saturday. She said her symptoms got worse from there but have improved now. Results came back positive for her and her husband, Bobby.

“If we spent time together last week just before my symptoms appeared, I simply want to make you aware that you have been exposed. Please respond responsibly. I pray I have not placed you in harm’s way. God be with you,” Blain-Bellamy wrote.

Conway City Council met in person last week, but distance was kept between council members and the public.

Mayor Blain-Bellamy is feeling better, according to her statement, but her husband was taken to the hospital for diabetic ketoacidosis and is being treated in an isolated unit.
