A pedestrian was struck and killed by a truck on U.S. 17 in Horry County on Thursday night, according to Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

A 2002 Chevy Tahoe was traveling South in the Little River area and the pedestrian walked in front of it and was hit around 10 p.m., Tidwell said.

The driver was the only occupant of the Tahoe, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

The identity of the pedestrian had not been released by the Horry County Coroner’s Office late Thursday night.
