DHEC Update: The latest coronavirus case, death count for the Myrtle Beach area

The Myrtle Beach area’s total confirmed coronavirus cases grew by 10 on Wednesday, according to the latest information from the Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Two additional deaths were reported in the area as a result of the virus.

This brings Horry County’s total to 392 confirmed cases and 24 deaths since the pandemic began. Georgetown County remained the same at 71 cases and three deaths in total.

Twenty additional deaths were announced in South Carolina on Wednesday, the highest single-day total for the state. There have been 466 confirmed deaths in the state due to the virus since March.

Across the South Carolina there are now 10,623 cases, up from 10,416 the day prior. While the case total increases daily, DHEC reports a recover rate of over 80 percent.
