SC Highway Patrol: One person dead after crash on U.S. 501

A 19-year-old Conway woman died in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 501 on Friday morning, according authorities.

Kelsey McGhee was driving a Honda SUV when she struck a Hino truck in the rear while driving southbound on U.S. 501 about 7:55 a.m. Friday, said Master Trooper Brian Lee with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. McGhee was transported to the hospital, where she died at 11:30 a.m. from injuries sustained in the wreck, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.

Both drivers involved were wearing seat belts, Lee said.
