Memorial Day weekend forecast: Could thunderstorms threaten activities in Myrtle Beach?

Memorial Day weekend is ahead, but so are possible thunderstorms and showers, according to the forecast Friday.

There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the National Weather Service reports. However, Memorial Day is forecast to be mostly sunny, with a high of 78.

On Saturday, forecasters are calling for showers and storms before 10 a.m. and again after 1 p.m., but the day is expected to be mostly sunny. Sunday should be mostly sunny, other than chances of showers and storms.

The NWS warns of possible rip currents over the weekend.

Here are the weekend’s highs and lows, according to the NWS:

  • Friday: High 79, low 71
  • Saturday: High 81, low 71
  • Sunday: High 82, low 68
  • Monday: High 78, low 66
