DHEC: Latest update on coronavirus cases in Myrtle Beach area

Horry County and the Myrtle Beach area saw the area’s total confirmed coronavirus cases total grow by eight on Wednesday, according to the latest information from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.

No additional deaths were reported in the area.

Since the pandemic began in March, Horry County has had a total of 314 cases and 20 deaths. Georgetown County’s case total grew by one bringing the total to 53 cases with three deaths.

South Carolina has seen 9,175 cases and 407 deaths since the pandemic began.

While new cases are still being announced, most of those people who contracted the virus have recovered. DHEC reports an 85 percent recovery rate as of Wednesday.
