Why construction on a Barefoot Landing brewery-eatery was halted, and when it may open
Construction on the Crooked Hammock Brewery restaurant along the lake at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach is expected to resume within a few weeks, leading to an opening as early as September.
The craft beer restaurant was scheduled to open this month, but its parent company halted construction after the onset of the coronavirus COVID-19.
“Unfortunately with everything that has gone on with COVID-19 our construction was halted. We are working to get our construction back up and running at this time,” said Lisa Courtney, director of brand and marketing for Crooked Hammock Brewery, which is part of the La Vida Hospitality Group. ”So we had to put that on hold a little bit. We’re looking to get that back up as soon as possible so we can get everything finished and be ready for an early fall opening.”
Crooked Hammock Brewery will consist of a brewery, restaurant/retail in a separate building, backyard events area, and island bar built over the water accessible via a pair of walking bridges.
The Barefoot Landing location will be the third and largest Crooked Hammock Brewery. The other two in Delaware opened in 2015 and 2019.
It will feature craft beers made from scratch — some that are exclusive to the North Myrtle Beach location — and a backyard cookout-inspired menu, including burgers and ribs, pretzels, and jalapeno and cheddar cornbread.
It will be pet-friendly and have indoor and outdoor seating for more than 500 guests.
“What’s so unique about Crooked Hammock Brewery is our backyard experience,” Courtney said. “The backyard will wrap around the restaurant and is going to have everything from cornhole to fire pits to a food and beer truck, so we’re really excited about everything we have going on.”
