Motorcyclist dies after hitting deer on Horry County road, police say

A motorcycle driver died after crashing into a deer on Water Tower Road Tuesday evening.

The wreck happened around 8 p.. near Long Bay Road, said Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The driver of a 2019 Harley-Davidson hit the deer as it was crossing the road.

The driver, who was not wearing a helmet, died after the crash, Collins said. The Horry County Coroner’s Office has not identified the victim.

A passenger, who was wearing a helmet, went to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Collins said.
