Driver killed in one-vehicle crash off S.C. 9 in the Loris area Thursday night

The driver of a 2006 Pontiac G6 was killed after the vehicle struck a tree off S.C. 9 in the Loris area on Thursday night, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell.

The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. on S.C. 9 near Liberty Church Road.

The driver was the only occupant of the car, was wearing a seatbelt and died on the scene after the Pontiac was traveling north and ran off the road to the right, according to Tidwell.

The driver has not been identified.
