Boy, 9, dies Sunday after swimming incident at Myrtle Beach hotel pool

A 9-year-old boy died Sunday after succumbing to injuries he got while swimming at a hotel pool last week.

Noah Rodriguez was pronounced dead around 8:55 a.m. Sunday at Grand Strand Medical Center, according to Horry County chief deputy coroner Tamara Williard. The cause of death was asphyxiation due to drowning, she said.

The incident took place around 1 p.m. Friday at the Sea Mist hotel, located 1200 S. Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.
