Here’s why you might hear a roaring noise in the Myrtle Beach area on Monday morning
Come late Monday morning you might just say to yourself “What is that noise?”
Spoiler alert: It’ll be a roaring “Thank you.”
Operation American Resolve, a special flyover by the South Carolina Air National Guard, will pass Tidelands Health and the Myrtle Beach area between 11:05 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. as a way of saluting health care workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a schedule for Operation American Resolve, Swamp Fox F-16 fighter jets are set to pass over Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in that time frame Monday.
“We will be keeping an eye to the sky Monday morning to make sure we don’t miss this amazing thank you,” Pam Maxwell, chief nursing officer at Tidelands Health, said in a prepared statement. “Our thanks to the South Carolina Air National Guard for arranging such a special thank you to our team and other health care professionals and first responders across our wonderful state.”
The F-16 jets are part of the 169th Fighter Wing that is coming back from a training mission. They will be split into three groups taking routes over different regions of South Carolina as a way to thank health care workers. The Tidelands hospitals are the first two flyover spots of the East Route, which will also visit the Pee Dee and Columbia.
Two other routes will flyover the rest of the state.
