Here’s when severe weather, potential for tornadoes could impact the Myrtle Beach area
The Myrtle Beach area could see severe weather Sunday night into Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina.
A warm front will end Sunday evening, making way for the threat of severe weather in northeast South Carolina ahead of a cold front, the NWS forecasts. Currently, the biggest threat is the potential for damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, large hail and isolated tornadoes.
Specific timing and locations for the weather event were uncertain and no warnings, nor watches were in place as of Saturday morning, according to the NWS.
The weather service lists the potential for lightning as “enhanced,” while the forecast for hail, tornadoes, damaging wind and flooding were classified as “slight.”
“Be prepared to take action if severe weather threatens your area,” the NWS states.
The heaviest rainfall is expected to take place Sunday evening, with flooding possible through Monday morning in northeast South Carolina, according to the weather service.
The NWS adds that there will likely be small craft advisory conditions Sunday night through Monday with seas at 4-6 feet and southerly winds Sunday night at 20-25 knots.
