Motorcyclist dies in Horry County wreck near U.S. 501

A motorcyclist died after crashing into a ditch in Horry County, police say.

The wreck happened around 9:15 p.m. on Lambert Road near U.S. 501, said Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The driver of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was going east on Lambert Road when they crossed the center line and then hit a ditch, Tidwell said. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle and died.

Tidwell said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office has not identified the victim. Horry County Fire Rescue also responded to the scene.

Lambert Road is about five miles north of Conway.
