Here are the virtual holiday services offered along the Grand Strand amid coronavirus
Though some places of worship have temporarily closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, there are still ways to celebrate Easter and Passover in the Myrtle Beach area.
With social distancing highly encouraged as health officials work to stem the spread of COVID-19, several area churches and synagogues are offering ways for people to worship from the comfort of their own homes.
Whether it be hosted on Facebook or YouTube, here are a few places offering virtual services for the upcoming holidays.
St. Phillip Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach will host a virtual worship service on Good Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Easter morning at 10:30 a.m. One hour after Easter worship has concluded, the church will allow members to drive through the back driveway where communion will be distributed in your cars through sanitary means. Services will be streamed via the church’s Facebook page.
Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach will have its annual decorating of the cross at 10 a.m. Easter. Services include an oceanfront sunrise service at 6:30 a.m., followed by a traditional service at 8:30 a.m., and Easter service on the lawn at 10 a.m. All services are live streamed through the church’s website.
Surfside United Methodist Church in Surfside Beach will post services to its YouTube channel.
St. Andrew Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach posts services to its YouTube channel. Holy week mass videos can be found here. For more Catholic masses, visit the Diocese of Charleston’s YouTube.
Christ United Myrtle Beach will host Easter Service on Sunday at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. Services will be streamed through the church’s website.
Carolina Forest Community Church will live stream Good Friday service at 7 p.m. on its Facebook page. Easter service will begin at 10 a.m. and can be watched via Facebook or its Vemeo Livestream page. Churchgoers are encouraged to gather a stone, a shoe, spices, a cross, keys and a flashlight for Easter service. For more information, visit carolinaforest.org.
First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach will post scripture to its Facebook page everyday of Holy Week to reflect each night, along with Easter activities for children to do at home. The church will host a virtual prayer vigil at 9 a.m. on Good Friday, followed by a sunrise service at 7 a.m. Easter morning. Easter services will take place at 11 a.m. through the church’s website.
St. Stephens Episcopal Church in North Myrtle Beach will host a drive-in Easter service in the church’s parking lot at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. There will be no distribution of bread or wine at either service.
With Passover beginning April 8, here is a list of upcoming services.
Temple Emanu-El in Myrtle Beach has a YouTube channel with services and messages including an introduction to children’s Seder and new Shabbat messages are posted every Friday.
Temple Shalom will live stream services at 7:30 p.m. Friday on its Facebook.
Chabad of Myrtle Beach is offering ways to celebrate Passover during the coronavirus pandemic.
