Downtown Conway restaurant damaged in nighttime blaze
A downtown Conway restaurant had significant damage after a Tuesday night fire.
Numerous flames were visible when fire crews arrived at Joey’s Riverwalk Grille, according to Conway spokeswoman Taylor Newell.
The blaze was reported around 9:45 p.m. at the 5 Laurel St. grille, Newell said. As of 11 p.m., the building was still standing but appeared to have heavy damage inside. Most of the restaurant’s roof was missing after the fire.
No one was injured in the fire, Newell said.
Conway Fire Department, Horry County Fire Rescue, Conway police and the Horry County Sheriff’s Office are at the scene.
Crews blocked Elm Street near the Horry County Government and Judicial Center while they fought the fire.
