Story of Myrtle Beach area murder airing on HLN’s ‘Forensic Files II’

The Myrtle Beach area is being featured on your favorite TV show.
In a new episode of “Forensic Files II” called “The Ambush,” the story of a 2008 murder near the Carolina Forest area debuted Sunday night on HLN. The show, featuring commentary from Aynor native and Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson, will be replayed in the coming days, with reruns scheduled for 4 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, 5:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday, 5:30 p.m. Friday, 6:30 a.m., 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday, and 1 a.m., noon and 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
The following is the episode’s summary: “A mysterious murder in an upscale community is solved by cell phone forensics.”
The show is based on a murder involving Timmy Rogers and Fred and Sherry Engel, a couple who lived in the Berkshire Forest community. Sherry Engel had an affair with Rogers, who went on to kill Fred Engel while he was checking his mail at his home.
In 2010, Sherry Engel pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. The same year, Rogers was convicted of murdering Fred Engel and sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Forensic Files II debuted last month as a reboot of the popular, documentary-style true crime “Forensic Files” series that aired for more than a decade on various channels in the 1990s and 2000s.
