Can you crack the code? Myrtle Beach escape room offers new challenges
Can you escape in under an hour?
Escapology escape room is bringing a unique experience to Myrtle Beach locals and visitors through several of its game rooms, including the newest: Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Castle Adventure.
The escape rooms range from a mansion murder to a Cuban crisis room where visitors have to crack the code to avoid war. Each escape room at Escapology is made up of several smaller rooms that game players move through using clues to open often secret doors to move to the next area. The object of the new Scooby-Doo room is to figure out which of the five suspects kidnapped a baroness.
Tylor Mansur, Escapology general manager, said escape rooms are a unique experience for everyone, with some people easily moving through the games and others who find it more challenging. Mansur said working in a group can be beneficial to figuring out the puzzle.
“In an escape room, you are part of the experience,” he said, compared to entertainment like a movie theater where you simply watch and are not typically directly involved in the experience.
Escapology, at 400 N. Kings Highway, is open daily and groups of up to eight people may play. When beginning in an escape room, groups have 60 minutes or less to solve the mystery or accomplish a task, which unlocks the final lock on a keypad. Each group is allowed three hints, but after the third, each hint will cost the group 2 minutes off their clock time.
The Scooby-Doo escape room will have its grand opening this weekend, Mansur said. With multiple rooms to unlock, players must pay attention to every detail in each room, as anything could be a clue, he said.
Here are the different games and how to book your visit.
“We have a motto of trying to make sure every experience is a five-star experience for all of our customers,” Mansur said.
