Weather forecast: How much rain could fall in Horry County, Myrtle Beach this week?

Heavy rain is heading Horry County’s way this week, but currently officials don’t think it will lead to river flooding.

The National Weather Service predicts between 1 to 3 inches of rain to fall Thursday, with coastal areas like Myrtle Beach and Conway receiving the highest amount of rainfall.

Rain started Wednesday afternoon but is expected to be at its worst Thursday afternoon.

While the Waccamaw and Little Pee Dee rivers are still hovering in low flood stages, the NWS does not expect the rain to take the river levels much higher.

Many low-lying and coastal areas could see flash flooding as rain passes through the area.

But the rainy days will be short-lived as the weekend is expected to be sunny with temperature’s peaking in the mid-to-high 50s Friday through Sunday.
