North Myrtle Beach surf shop owner drunkenly set fire that damaged 2 stores, suit says

A North Myrtle Beach surf shop owner drunkenly set his store on fire, causing flames to spread and damage a neighboring liquor store, a lawsuit claims.

The fire broke out in June 2018 at Trunkplayer Surf and Skate, previously located on Sea Mountain Highway in Cherry Grove, after owner Sean Redmond started a fire in his store, according to the suit. Redmond was under the influence of alcohol and “other illegal substances” when he intentionally set the fire, the lawsuit claims.

Fire then spread to the liquor store next door and caused significant property damage, the lawsuit states. Cherry Grove Liquors filed the lawsuit in Horry County this week.

The Sun News reached out to Redmond for comment.
