Did you suffer flood damages? Here’s how you can help Horry County retrieve relief funds

Horry County Government wants to know how much damage recent flooding caused and it needs your help doing so.

Last week, floodwaters reached homes and roads close to waterways in Horry County. As of Monday, the Waccamaw River at Conway remains in a moderate flood stage, although the water is slowly receding.

As with each flooding event, the dollar amount of water damage is sent to the state and federal government and can help determine how much relief and resilience money the area can receive.

“This evaluation plays a critical role in acquiring state and federal financial assistance,” the county stated in a release.

To make sure all damage is accounted for, residents affected by flooding can submit a report through an online survey created by Horry County Government. It will ask for information about your home, its flooding history and the extent to which floodwaters damaged your home.

You can also upload photos of floodwater damage so the county can specifically see what happened.

In addition, crews from the county will be in flood-prone neighborhoods this week looking at the damage and infrastructure needs in affected communities.
