Are you a taster or a battler? Mac-N-Cheese Cookoff returns to Grand Strand

What’s better than a Sunday afternoon full of eating macaroni and cheese for a cause?

Sara J’s annual Mac-N-Cheese Cookoff is returning for a fifth year to Garden City, featuring area cooks who will take their recipes to battle and to raise money for the local organization Surf Dreams Foundation.

The cook-off is noon to 3 p.m. March 8 at Sara J’s Seafood Restaurant, at 314 Atlantic Ave. A cash bar, free face painting, live music and a bounce house will be available. The event is free, but samples of macaroni and cheese are $3 each, and all proceeds go to Surf Dreams Foundation.

The foundation provides free surf clinics and gives scholarships for area high school students, according to its website.

Anyone interested in becoming a vendor or cook may email surfdreamsfoundation@gmail.com.
