Here’s how Horry County roads fared overnight and how low temperatures could drop

Road conditions across Horry County are suitable to travel on Friday morning, but officials still warn drivers to watch for black ice, Horry County Emergency Management reports.

A wintry mix and snowfall fell over northern South Carolina on Thursday and into the night, but there was no snow for the Myrtle Beach area. The National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina says Friday morning that roads, bridges and overpasses could remain slick for the morning commute.

Though the Grand Strand did not experience overnight snow, it is still a chilly morning, with temperatures dropping lower Friday night, the National Weather Service reports.

A low temperature is expected to drop to 28 degrees overnight Friday in Myrtle Beach, the weather service says. Frigid air will bring wind chills below freezing throughout Friday, the NWS Wilmington reports.

The weekend is expected to be sunny, but cooler with high temperatures in the 50s and a low around 36 Saturday night, the NWS reports.
