Could the Myrtle Beach area see snow this week? Here’s the latest forecast
Don’t put away those winter jackets just yet.
Following a string of spring-like weather, a cold front passing through the Myrtle Beach area will bring cooler weather, more rain, icy conditions and a possible snow dusting potentially impacting travel, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather will remain wet as temperatures begin to drop Wednesday night to around 40 degrees with the area experiencing below-normal temperatures through Saturday, the NWS reports. With light to moderate rainfall causing minor flooding along rivers, streams and the Intracoastal Waterway on Thursday, it’s projected to transition into a wintry mix Thursday evening.
There area could see some snow Thursday night into early Friday morning, resulting in slick conditions that could cause increased traffic and longer commute times, according to NWS. Little-to-no snow accumulation is expected across the Myrtle Beach area, with an exception for Loris, which could see less than an inch of snow.
Worst-case scenario projections say Myrtle Beach, Conway and Loris could all see less than half an inch of snow accumulate, but it’s unlikely, NWS reports.
Rain and snow will stop late Friday morning ahead of the weekend, which will see the return of 60 degree weather. However, rain is expected for late Sunday night into early next week, according to NWS.
