Here’s how to eat she crab soup and see Ed Piotrowski while helping save cats and dogs

Next weekend, you can eat she crab soup with WPDE Weatherman Ed Piotrowski while also supporting an animal shelter.

The St. Frances Animal Center is holding its 2nd Annual She Crab Soup Cook-Off on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. It will be held at Quigley’s Next Door located near 251 Willbrook Boulevard in Pawleys Island.

For folks unfamiliar with she crab soup, it is similar to a bisque, typically made with fish stock, crab meat and sherry.

Restaurants from across Pawleys Island and the Grand Strand will make their best she crab soup, including Quigley’s, Rustic Table, Wicked Tuna and Dead Dog Saloon. A group of judges, including Piotrowski, will declare the winners.

Attendees can try the soups by purchasing tickets on the center’s website. All proceeds will help take care of the center’s cats and dogs awaiting adoption. The center also accepts donations.

In addition, the event will have a cash bar, raffles and live music.

Clarification: The event takes place at Quigley’s Next Door which is next to Quiqley’s Pint and Plate.
