Where Myrtle Beach ranks among most affordable beach towns, according to study

Myrtle Beach is among the top places to buy a beach home in the United States, according to a study done by SmartAsset.

The study ranked Myrtle Beach as the 12th out of 50 the “most affordable beach towns” based off home prices, average number of rooms per house and expected property taxes.

According to the results, Myrtle Beach’s homes on average were priced under $200,000 and the city was in the top 10 for lowest property taxes of any of the top 50 cities listed.

Gulfport, Mississippi took first place due to its low home cost of below $150,000 on average and low property taxes. A majority of the ranked cities were in Florida or along the Gulf Coast.

Myrtle Beach was the only South Carolina city to make the list.
