Thunderstorms have left the area. What’s next for weather in the Myrtle Beach area?

Storms have left the Myrtle Beach area, and the weekend is forecast to be sunny, with temperatures in the 50s, forecasters say.

Wind continues to whip the Grand Strand after severe thunderstorms hit the area overnight, bringing some damage to the area. The Myrtle Beach area is under a wind advisory until 7 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina.

North Myrtle Beach officials are reporting some homes suffered damage, with only one home having significant damage on North Ocean Boulevard. No injuries were reported.

Wind gusts recorded Friday morning reached 44 mph in North Myrtle Beach and 40 mph in Myrtle Beach, Wilmington forecasters said.

Horry County Fire Rescue reports the roadway near 5198 Long Branch Swamp Road in the Green Sea area is closed until water recedes. Four people and two dogs were rescued from a flooded residence Friday morning in Green Sea, HCFR reports.
