Traffic alert: Head-on crash in Conway area sends two people to hospital

Two people were taken to the hospital after a head-on crash in the Conway area Wednesday morning, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

Crews were called to the intersection of S.C. 544 and Cox Ferry Road just about 6:30 a.m. after reports of the wreck. Two patients were extricated and taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening, said Tony Casey, spokesperson for HCFR.

Drivers are asked to seek an alternative route around the intersection, Casey said.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
