A bit of “unsettled weather” will start off the weekend in the Myrtle Beach area, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina.

There is a potential for severe weather Friday night in the region, but dry weather and sunshine will follow Saturday and Sunday, forecasters say. Wind gusts could reach up to 21 mph overnight Friday as chances of showers are possible, the NWS reports.

Temperatures over the weekend will be in the 50s with lows around 40 degrees, according to the weather service.

Heading into a new week, the extended forecast for Myrtle Beach calls for sunny days, with high temperatures around 55 degrees.
