In a dumpster 1 minute, a garbage truck the next. A rough Myrtle Beach night gets worse
A man trapped in the back of a garbage truck was only saved after a witness heard his cries coming from the trash compartment.
Myrtle Beach police responded to Mr. Joe White Avenue around 5:20 a.m. Monday for a report of someone being in the trash compartment of a garbage truck.
A witness called 911 after hearing calls for help coming from the back of the truck when it was near TJ Maxx, according to a police report.
The witness said they believed the person was picked up from a dumpster and stuck in the back of the truck. Officers confirmed a man was in a dumpster and became trapped in the trash compartment when the truck picked it up.
The victim went to the hospital for hip and chest injuries. He said he did not remember anything about the incident other than being in the dumpster with his girlfriend.
