Coroner identifies man who died in fiery three-vehicle wreck on Highway 90 in Conway area
A 29-year-old Myrtle Beach man died in a fiery three-vehicle crash on S.C. 90 in the Conway area Saturday, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy.
Brandon Proveaux died from injuries sustained in the wreck, Bellamy said. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
The wreck happened at 6:40 a.m. on Highway 90 near Old Highway 90, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell. Proveaux was in a 2018 Nissan Armada traveling east on S.C. 90 when he went left of center, striking a dump truck in the opposite lane. The dump truck then went across the center line and hit a 2006 Ford F-150 traveling behind the Armada, Tidwell said.
Proveaux was the lone occupant in the Armada and it is unclear if he was wearing a seat belt, according to Tidwell. The highway patrol said the driver of the dump truck was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Conway Medical Center, and the driver of the F-150 was a lone occupant not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center.
One vehicle caught fire during the wreck, according to Horry County Fire Rescue, which responded to the crash along with the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Horry County police.
