Here’s what was found at an Ocean Boulevard restaurant during a health inspection

A Myrtle Beach restaurant lost points during a routine health inspection for a lack of cleanliness, according to a report from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Ocean Blue, at 3200 S. Ocean Blvd., scored an 84 percent grade during an inspection Jan. 3. The restaurant lost points for having carbon build-up on the grill, not following proper date-marking standards for corn beef hash, sauce and hot dogs, and having chlorine in a sanitizer bucket on the cook line, the report states.

Breading and flour were not labeled with proper names, according to the inspection, and “soiled wiping cloths” were stored on the prep and cook tables, the report states.

Non-food contact surfaces in the restaurant were not clean, including ice build-up on a door, ice on unopened cases of cinnamon buns and hood filters with grease build-up, the report states.

DHEC grades food establishments annually or quarterly, depending on the establishment’s food processes and compliance history. Restaurant inspections are conducted based on what DHEC calls a “snapshot in time” of retail food establishments’ employee behavior and preparation practices.
