Why Alligator Adventure in North Myrtle Beach will be closed for ‘several weeks’

New creatures could be coming to the Grand Strand.

Alligator Adventure announced on its Facebook page and website Saturday that it would be closing Monday for “several weeks” as it undergoes renovations that that will include future exhibits.

“Beginning Jan. 6-until we will be closed for several weeks preparing for future exhibits,” Alligator Adventure’s Facebook post says.

The post included a “feeling excited” emoji label.

“We look forward to seeing everyone when we reopen,” the Facebook post says.

Advertised as “The Reptile Capital of the World,” Alligator Adventure is located at 4604 U.S. 17 South in North Myrtle Beach as part of Barefoot Landing. It is an animal park that showcases reptiles and other species up close through shows and displays. Animals listed on the park’s website as of Saturday included: several species of alligators, bobcats, flamingos, crocodiles, frogs, lizards, marmosets, snakes, Hyenas, squirrel monkeys, several species of birds and many species of turtles.
