Will the last weekend of the decade be spent inside? Here’s the latest Myrtle Beach area forecast

While Myrtle Beach area residents can keep their sweaters stowed away, it might be best to keep an umbrella on hand this weekend.

Residents can expect to see unseasonably high temperatures in the Myrtle Beach area through the weekend, but outside activities could be interrupted as an approaching cold front will bring increasing chances of rain, according to the National Weather Service forecasters in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The region could see totals of a quarter to half inch of rain, forecasters say.

The NWS is calling for 70-degree weather this weekend, with possible showers on Sunday and Monday. Saturday will be a partially sunny day with a high of 71 and a low of 61, the weather service reports.

Sunday is forecast to be cloudy in the morning with on and off rain showers during the afternoon, with a possible thunderstorm later in the evening that will bring wind gusts up to 20 mph, forecasters say. The rain will continue into Monday with scattered thunderstorms in the morning, the weather service reports.

As the day goes on Monday, the rain will leave ahead of a cloudy rest of the day, the weather service reports, but the temperature will once again reach 70 degrees on Monday.

Here are the high and low temperatures in Myrtle Beach for the weekend:

  • Friday: High of 73, low 51
  • Saturday: High 71, low 61
  • Sunday: High 73, low 63
  • Monday: High 71, low 44
